FEE-HELP Loan

FEE-HELP (Eligibility Criteria Applies) is a loan scheme provided by the Australian Government that assists eligible students in the payment of part or all of their Higher Education program’s tuition fees. If you apply, your FEE-HELP loan will be under our parent Higher Education college AIT, who are issuing you with the accredited Diploma of Web Development.

Over your lifetime, you may borrow up to the combined HELP loan limit. For 2024, the HELP loan limit is $121,844 for most students. In addition, there is a one-off loan fee of 20%, imposed by the government, for undergraduate courses and vocational courses of study. The government pays AIT the amount of the loan, and you pay it back through the Australian taxation system once your annual taxable income reaches the minimum repayment threshold.

From 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 the threshold at which you begin to pay back your loan is $54,435. This amount is subject to change annually. You may view the threshold here.

You will also need to have a Tax File Number to apply for FEE-HELP. For all criteria in regards to applying for FEE-HELP visit the FEE-HELP website.

Tech Requirements

All of the software that you need for your coding course will be supplied free of charge, however, you will need a reasonably current computer, i.e. 2020 or newer, with at least 16GB of RAM and the following specifications.

  • PC: Supports Windows 10 or 11
  • Mac: OS Monterey (minimum)

Everyone will have different preferences for the operating system used, and you might be tempted to switch to one or the other if you have heard that, “It’s the best OS for coders”. Our advice would be to stick with the operating system you know best. You wouldn’t try out new hiking shoes right before hiking the Camino trail, so it isn’t advisable to change from one operating system to another right before starting your bootcamp.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you have completed relevant prior study, training and/or industry experience you may not need to enrol in the full duration of your program.

To gain Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) we need to assess evidence of previous learning, employment, industry activities and talents. The evidence must be authenticated (academic transcripts, subject outlines, references, awards), which we then compare to the subjects in the Diploma of Information Technology. If there is sufficient verifiable evidence you have attained all of the subject learning outcomes you may be granted credit for a subject or unit of competency. We will recognise previous units of study and qualifications for current training packages and courses completed within the past 5 years. You apply for RPL during the application process for the program of your choice.

VET Credit Transfer

You can apply for credit if you have previously studied similar units, already successfully completed the same or equivalent units with another Registered Training Organisation, or have strong work experience in a similar field as your preferred program. AIT will recognise previous units of study and qualifications for current training packages and courses completed within the past 7 years.
