Scotland became the latest team in Euro 2024 to crash out of the tournament after a 1-0 defeat to Hungary.

It was a cruel ending for the Tartan Army who conceded in the 99th minute to Kevin Csoboth on the break.

His winner followed what looked to be a horrible injury to Hungarian striker Barnabas Varga.

He was taken to hospital after a brutal collision with Angus Gunn and is in a stable condition.

Elsewhere, hosts Germany sealed top spot with an unconvincing 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

And England are looking to regroup after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Denmark but fears are deepening over Luke Shaw's fitness.

    Update

Hungary forward Barnabas Varga has been taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.

Varga was stretchered off the pitch after a nasty collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn with the two going for a 50-50 ball.

Varga came off worse and received treatment which resulted in the game being stopped for five minutes.

The Hungarian Football Federation confirmed Varga was taken straight to hospital but is on the road to recovery.

    Euros heartbreak

Scotland are OUT of Euro 2024 having suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Hungary.

A goal in the final seconds of stoppage time by Kevin Csoboth means Scotland have finished BOTTOM of Group A, and also breathes new life into Hungary's bid to reach the knockout stage.

At the 12th attempt, Scotland have still yet to make it out of the group stage of a major tournament.

    Worrying

Bad news from Stuttgart with Hungary striker Barnabas Varga being stretchered off following a nasty collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

Varga was left in a heap after colliding with Gunn with the two players going for a 50-50 ball.

Hungary teammates immediately called for assistance from the medics with the player receiving treatment for five minutes before being taken off on the stretcher.

Hungary and Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai was seen in tears while Varga received treatment.

The game is currently locked at 0-0 which would see Hungary get eliminated from the competition, while Scotland would be likely to follow with two points unlikely to see them qualify as one of the best four third-placed teams across the groups.

    Half time

The final Group A matches are at their halfway point with Scotland drawing 0-0 against Hungary, while Switzerland are 1-0 up against Germany.

A draw won't do for Steve Clarke's men as that will leave them on two points and very unlikely to qualify as one of the best four third-placed group finishers in the tournament.

But of course, one goal in Stuttgart can change everything.

    Germany 0-1 Switzerland

Well, an unexpected development in Frankfurt as the Swiss take a shock lead against host nation Germany.

Dan Ndoye is the goalscorer, firing into the roof of the net as he connected with Remo Freuler's cross from the left.

This makes things interesting because Switzerland would qualify as group winners should things stay as they are with Germany coming second.

It doesn't really change Scotland's situation, they would've needed the Switzerland to lose and a six-goal swing against the Swiss with a win over Hungary to come second in Group A.

    Fodes well

Phil Foden insists England are 'finding their feet' at Euro 2024 as preparations ramp up for their final group game against Slovenia.

England sit top of Group C on four points after edging past Serbia and then drawing 1-1 with Denmark last time out.

However, the performances in both games, especially against Denmark, has led to widespread criticism from fans, pundits and former players.

Foden's form has also been a hot topic of debate as Gareth Southgate has struggled to get the best out of the wealth of attacking options at his disposal.

Victory over Slovenia in Cologne will confirm England as group winners, while a draw would be enough to progress into the last 16 from top spot if Denmark do not beat Serbia.

"I feel like the intensity has gone up a little bit," Foden said.

"We've had a good start, we're on four points, but we expect more from ourselves. I look around and the characters we have, we always expect more from ourselves. Training has gone up going into this game.

"It is such a great group here, everyone sticks together. Now I feel we're finding our feet, we're going into the third game full of confidence and trying to finish top of the group."

    Sanctioned

Albania striker Mirlind Daku has been banned for two matches for using a megaphone to join supporters in nationalist chants after Albania’s draw with Croatia.

Meanwhile, Albania have also received fines for three offences committed at that fixture, which finished 2-2, and their opponents have been sanctioned on two separate counts.

The disciplinary body said Daku was suspended for “failing to comply with the general principles of conduct, for violating the basic rules of decent conduct, for using sports events for manifestations of a non-sporting nature and for bringing the sport of football into disrepute.”

It was a reference to Daku shouting 'f*** Serbia' and “f*** Macedonia” by the side of the pitch in Hamburg.

The ban means Daku misses Albania's final group match against Spain on Monday night as well as their last 16 clash should they make it.

Albania are currently third in Group B with one point, and will likely need a win against Spain to book their place in the knockout stage.

    Scotland up next!

Right, we've heard all about England today, but it now it's time to look at Scotland.

The Tartan Army are looking to make it out of the group stage for the first time at a major tournament in what will be their 12th attempt.

Things didn't start off too well when they were thrashed 5-1 by Germany, but a better performance brought them a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

They now stand a good chance of going through if they can beat Hungary.

However, their opponents also need a win after losing their first two games, so it's all to play for.

    Kane remains calm

Harry Kane has compared England's start to Euro 2024 to other sports, justifying why they may not be at their best just yet.

“In the past tournaments, we’ve been on the same amount of points, winning the first and drawing the second," Kane said.

“I don’t think we played well in the Denmark game, we dropped below what we can do.

“But we’re calm, we’ve got lots of experience. There's time to improve.

"It’s like a boxer in the first couple of rounds or like a golfer in the first round thinking 'Don't play yourself out of this tournament.’"

    Late night Lamine

Spain could violate Germany's employment law by playing Lamine Yamal in their final Euro 2024 group game against Albania.

German law states that under-18s cannot work after 8pm while athletes can work until 11pm including time for media duties etc.

Yamal is only 16-years-old and with Spain playing tomorrow night at 9pm local time, he could break the rules.

If the starlet was to start and play the full 90 minutes, he could potentially breach regulations depending on delays during the match.

Should this happen, La Roja would be fined, so we could well see a 'tactical' sub for Yamal at some point...

    Kane responds to Lineker

Gary Lineker called England's performance against Denmark 's***' when speaking on his podcast after the game.

And Harry Kane has been asked what he made of that assessment.

Kane said: “I’d never want to be disrespectful about any player, especially one who's worn the shirt.

“It’s very hard to not listen to it now.

“They’ve got to be honest but they also have a responsibility as an ex-player of knowing that people care about what they say and people do listen to them.

“This country hasn’t won anything for a long, long time and a lot of these players were a part of that as well and know how tough it is.

"It's not digging anyone out, it's just reality. They do know that it's tough to play in these major tournaments.

“All I would say is remember what it’s like to wear the shirt and that their words are listened to.

"They want us to win a major tournament and being as helpful as they can and building us up with confidence would be a much better way of going about it.”

    'I'll talk to my agent!'

Harry Kane has bizarrely just been offered a contract from a seventh-tier German side at his press conference!

One of the members of the local media asked him about the offer and whether he would be keen on moving to the area.

He then showed a jersey to Kane and he responded by saying: “I’ll have to talk to my agent and see what we can do!

“You have good golf courses here around where we're staying.

“The reception I’ve had in Germany has been incredible. I’ve added a lot of supporters since I joined Bayern Munich."

    Fit as ever

There have also been some claims that Harry Kane is still suffering from an injury that saw him miss the end of the domestic season.

However, the England captain says he is fully fit.

“I spoke before the tournament, preparation was good for me leading up to it," Kane said.

“The first game, I felt as fit as I have all season.I came off in the second game but that's because the manager wanted to freshen up.

“I’m fit. You want to be coming into your peak towards the big games in the knockouts.

“You want to be close to feeling 100% in the knockouts and that's where I think I am.”

    No meeting

The England captain has now denied reports that he called a players-only meeting following the draw with Denmark.

“That didn’t happen, not sure where that’s come from," he said.

“We just had a small debrief from the manager after the game and then a family day.

“We had seven hours with the family which I don’t think players were too happy about after a few hours!”

    Kane on criticism

Harry Kane has been speaking in a press conference ahead of England's final group game against Slovenia.

And he was asked about the criticism he has received for his performances at Euro 2024 so far.

He said: “I try and stay away from it as much as possible but it’s impossible to not see some of the stuff nowadays.

“Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and when a major international tournament is on it’s going to be heightened.

“If I’m being honest, am I playing as well as I can? No.

“But I didn't score in group at World Cup in the group stages, so I’m one ahead already now.

“I don’t get too high, or too low, I just go onto the next one.”

    Hungary for more

In the Hungary camp, manager Marco Rossi has prepared his side for a 'decisive' game against Scotland tonight.

Rossi's men face the same challenge as the Tartan Army - they need to win.

And the boss has been speaking about how he is approaching the final matchday in Group A.

He said: "Given the results so far, no points from two games, we have no alternative other than winning if we want to progress.

"This is a decisive game for both teams and the pressure is equally on for us and Scotland. The pressure is on us and Scotland.

"I think Scotland are always aggressive. They tried to do that in their first two matches as well. As to whether they will still be, we'll see that tomorrow night.

"But I think we're in the same boat as Scotland. It's not just them who need three points, we do too. Coming away with maximum points might see us through to the knockout stage.

"If that doesn't happen, at least we can go away from Euro 2024 with three points, so our aim is exactly the same as Scotland.

"I think the Scottish team is dangerous in general because of their attitude, but they have some real quality players like John McGinn, Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay.

"At the same time, we need to try and find the right mood to face them."

    Extra safety measures

Following the incidents that occurred during Portugal vs Turkey, UEFA have confirmed that they will be bringing in extra security measures.

In a statement to Sky News, it said: "Safety and security in the stadium, on the pitch and at team facilities are the ultimate priority for UEFA, DFB and EURO 2024 GmbH.

"To this end, additional safety measures will be deployed in the stadiums to further meet the requirements of the tournament, and to prevent such incidents.

"For reasons of security, we cannot comment further on specific measures.

"As a reminder, any incursion onto the pitch constitutes a breach of the stadium rules and will result in expulsion from the stadium, a ban from all tournament matches and the filing of a formal criminal complaint for trespass."

    England miss Henderson

Wayne Rooney believes England are lacking some leadership in the squad that Jordan Henderson would have provided.

Henderson didn't make Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024 in somewhat of a shock exclusion.

Writing in his column for The Sunday Times, Rooney said: "I did write before Euro 2024 began...that the squad Gareth had chosen lacked experience and would miss Jordan Henderson.

"He [Kane] also needs voices behind him. You coach how you want to press but then you need leaders on the pitch to execute it and Harry needs someone vocal behind telling him to show the opponent left, show them right and so on.

"Sometimes, when you’re the striker, you need to be told to wait or to let the centre back come and step into your press. I wonder if anyone is helping Harry in that way.

"Having played with Henderson I can tell you he’s very loud and excellent at organising the pressing. Rice is quite vocal but not to the same level, and I don’t think Trent is much of a talker on the pitch at all.

"Whoever plays midfield in the next game has to be in Harry’s ear and support him.

This is one of the ways in which England’s lack of experience is showing."

    Scot to win

Scotland can reach the knockout stages of the European Championships for the first time ever tonight.

The Tartan Army must win against Hungary and if they do, they will make history and become legends.

Three points will all but secure progression to the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed finishers.

It could even move them up to second in Group A should Switzerland lose to Germany and an unlikely six-goal swing go Steve Clarke's side's way.

A draw may end up being enough too, however, that would require a huge amount of luck with results from other groups.

As things stand with one game to go, Scotland are not one of the teams going through from third place, but a win this evening would surely do it...

    What are Roo doing?!

Wayne Rooney is hoping England manager Gareth Southgate doesn't make a big mistake with his team selection against Slovenia...

In his column in The Sunday Times, Rooney predicted what Southgate might do on Tuesday evening, but revealed he thinks it would be a bad idea.

The Three Lions legend said: "It wouldn’t surprise me if Gareth moves Foden to the right, brings in Gordon and leaves Saka out.

"But I wouldn’t do that because I think Saka has been really good. He has been creative and provided some good balls into the box."

That would indicate that Rooney would rather take Phil Foden out of the line-up, with the former striker identifying why he thinks Anthony Gordon would help England.

He continued: "Gordon offers runs in behind that have been lacking, and the ability to beat defenders one one-on-one.

"There have been no crosses from the left and he would provide those too.

"This would especially help Jude, who’s having to try to time his runs off straight passes a lot of the time."

    'It's not the right way'

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez was left frustrated at fans invading the pitch during their game against Turkey.

As well as Goncalo Ramos almost being injured by a steward chasing a supporter, there were many other incidents throughout.

The invaders' main target was Cristiano Ronaldo and Martinez called out the fans, asking them to stop approaching him.

He said: “It was a concern because today we were lucky that the intentions of the fans were good.

"You can understand it was a difficult moment — if those intentions are wrong, the players are in danger.

“We should give a message to the fans: it’s not the right way.

"You’re not going to get anything out of it, and what will happen is the [security] measures will get tighter.”

    Learning lessons

Scotland face a win-or-go-home clash tonight against Hungary.

Nerves are set to be through the roof on the pitch and in the stands, however, manager Steve Clarke is positive heading into the game.

He is hoping that previous experiences of losing in such fixtures can help them achieve a different outcome this time around.

Clarke said: "We feel good. We thought it might come down to needing to get something out of the last game in the group.

"We've been in this position before at the last tournament but hopefully we can show that we've learned a few lessons.

"The players have got a hell of a lot more experience. If we can qualify more regularly for these tournaments, you understand what you're doing.

"I think we've done a lot of things right this time that maybe we didn't get quite right the last time.

"Hopefully when we get to the last game the proof of the pudding is in the eating if you like, so that's what we're after.

"Hopefully we go to the match and we do what we're good at. If we do that we've got a chance."

    Help us, Harry

England captain Harry Kane called the Three Lions squad together for a 'crisis meeting' following their dismal draw with Denmark.

Kane is reported to have met with the players and addressed any frustrations or problems they have.

No coaches or staff members were invited to the chat which took place at England's camp in Germany.

In the meeting, players are said to have spoken about their performances and positions they wanted to play, quashing any differences ahead of their final group game against Slovenia.

The Three Lions skipper is part of the leadership team in the squad and he would have been keen to bring some unity to the group after making an underwhelming start to Euro 2024.
