It’s mid-June in DC, which means a fresh class of interns is settling in. Many are eager to network and meet new friends at restaurants and bars around town. But if they’re making typical intern salaries while paying DC rent, $17 co*cktails are likely out of reach. Here are places to enjoy post-work drinks and snacks for under $10—and none of these happy hours end before 6:30 PM.

Happy Hour Deals: The later the night gets at this dimly-lit Kalorama spot, the better the deal. From 5 to 7 PM daily, get $5 rail drinks and draft beer, and half-price sliders or wings. From 10 PM to midnight or midnight to 2 AM, pay $20 for two hours of open bar (rail drinks or draft beer), or $40 to keep it going from 10 PM to 2 AM.
